I am very welcoming to those that have had many massages before and especially if it's your first time.
This is your time and I work with you to custom a massage to your requirements.
The following tips should help you get the most from your massage:
Be as receptive and open to the massage process as possible. Don’t be afraid to discuss any apprehensions, concerns and do ask questions.
My phone will be on silent (not vibrate) during the massage. Please do the same to ensure we have no distractions.
Don’t eat a big meal just before the session. Drink water before and after.
Shower before you arrive. Shower facilities are available if required.
Arrive on time. If you are in the area early, message me as I may be able to fit you in early. If you are late I will do my best to give you your full time, but I can not guarantee.
Before the session I will conduct a short consultation to check any medical conditions and / or allergies that may impact the massage.
Let me know if there any places that you do not want touched before the massage, or if there is anywhere that you would like extra attention.
I play background, southing piano music during the massage. Please let me know if you would rather not have any music or if there is particular music that you would like played.
Take off as much clothing as you are comfortable removing. This can change during the massage. I will leave the room for you to undress and get on the table. Lay face down with your head though the headrest and cover yourself with the towel on the table. Use the hooks / chair in the corner of the room for your clothes.
While it might be tempting to talk, you will have a much more relaxing massage if you keep talking to a minimum during the massage.
During the massage session, report any displeasure, whether it’s from the massage or distractions related to the environment, e.g., room temperature, music volume, lighting, etc. I usually heat the room to between 22-24 degrees. Let me know if you would like a cooler or hotter environment. The massage table is also heated and can be adjusted during the massage.
Do give feedback during the massage on the amount of pressure, speed of hand movement and anything you particularly like or dislike. I welcome you to give an audible signal if you are particularly enjoying an area being massaged.
Remember to breathe normally. Breathing helps facilitate relaxation.
Relax your muscles and your mind. Try not to contract or harden your muscles. Do let me know if you experience any discomfort or if you are particularly ticklish.
Don’t get up too quickly and if you are able, allow for some quiet time after your massage session. You may need to take a few minutes to settle yourself especially if you are driving.
Massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative and the more often you come the better I will get to know what you like.
